What is Dynamics 365 Business Central?
Dynamics 365 Business Central is Microsoft’s cloud ERP for small and mid-sized businesses. It replaces separate finance, stock and production systems with one platform, and Microsoft updates it twice a year.
The core modules cover financial management, sales, purchasing, inventory, warehousing, manufacturing and service management. Because they share one database, an order raised in sales updates stock, costs and the ledger without anyone rekeying it.
Reporting runs through built-in dashboards and Power BI, and your team works in a browser, the desktop app or Microsoft Teams. Tecvia implements and supports it for UK manufacturers and distributors, usually replacing spreadsheets, Sage or an ageing NAV system.
Why choose Dynamics 365 Business Central?
Three things matter to the UK manufacturers and distributors we work with: where the system runs, whether upgrades break what you have built, and whether departments finally share the same data. Business Central answers all three.
Cloud or on-premise
Run Business Central in Microsoft's cloud or on your own servers. Most UK SMEs take the cloud version, which we set up as part of implementation, leaving Microsoft to handle the infrastructure and the two updates a year.
Always up to date
Updates arrive automatically rather than as upgrade projects. Each month our support team reviews your extensions against the next wave, so nothing you rely on breaks when it lands.
One connected system
Sales, purchasing, finance, stock and production share one database, so a change in one place updates the rest. Reporting runs on that same data through Power BI.

Why work with Tecvia?
Manufacturing and distribution, not everything
Our team came out of manufacturing and distribution, so the conversation starts with how your operation runs rather than with software. Between us there is more than 70 years of Business Central experience, and we have seen enough poor implementations to know what to avoid.
You talk to experts, not graduates
We hire people who already know the product, so the person you speak to can answer you rather than pass you on. Support runs from Manchester, 8am to 6pm, with no offshore first line and no overnight handover.
Privately owned, so we answer to you
There are no shareholders or investment groups setting our targets, which means we can tell you when something is not worth doing. Most of our work comes from existing clients and referrals.
Tell us how your operation runs today and we will show you what Business Central would look like for it, with a straight answer on cost and timescale.

FAQs
The questions we are asked most often about Business Central. If yours is not here, ask us directly and we will give you a straight answer.
Dynamics 365 Business Central is Microsoft’s cloud ERP for small and mid-sized businesses. It runs finance, sales, purchasing, inventory, warehousing, manufacturing and service in one system, so the same data serves every department. Microsoft releases two major updates a year.
Because the alternative is usually an accounts package plus a stack of spreadsheets, with someone rekeying between them. One system removes that, gives you current numbers rather than last month’s, and takes server maintenance and patching off your plate. Microsoft handles infrastructure, backups and platform security on the cloud version.
- One database across finance, stock, purchasing, warehousing and production, so an order updates costs and the ledger without rekeying.
- Works inside Outlook, Excel and Microsoft Teams, so people stay in the tools they already use.
- Dashboards and Power BI reporting on live data.
- Multi-company, multi-currency and multi-language if you trade internationally.
- Extended through AppSource apps or bespoke extensions rather than changes to the core, which keeps upgrades straightforward.
The standard offering is Microsoft’s cloud, and that is what most UK SMEs run. On-premises deployment is still possible where there is a specific reason for it, such as a regulatory or connectivity constraint, and we will tell you honestly whether it is worth the trade-off, because you then own the servers, the backups and the upgrade work.
Microsoft offers a free 30-day trial, and we can set up a trial environment with a sample company so you can click through the areas that matter to you. For a closer fit we would usually run a short demo against your own processes instead, which tends to answer more than a sandbox does.
Business Central is bought through a Microsoft partner, who also handles configuration, data migration, training and go-live. Tecvia is that partner: we scope the work, agree a fixed price where we can, and stay with you afterwards. There is more detail on how a project runs on our implementation page.
Licensing is per user, per month, billed annually and excluding VAT. Microsoft’s UK list prices are £61.50 for Essentials, £84.60 for Premium, which adds manufacturing and service management, and £6.20 for a Team Member licence for people who only need to look things up or approve. Implementation and support are quoted separately. Full detail is on our Business Central pricing page.
Businesses that have outgrown an accounts package and are running operations on spreadsheets alongside it. We work mainly with UK manufacturers, engineering firms, food and beverage producers and distributors, typically from around ten users upwards, including those with multiple sites or overseas trade.

What happens next
- We aim to come back to you the same working day, and it will be someone who knows the product rather than a call handler. If we are tied up on a project, it may be the next day.
- An hour on how you work now, what sits in spreadsheets and where the process breaks. No slide deck. We may come back with follow-up questions once we have digested it.
- A written outline with cost and timescale, so you can compare us properly against anyone else you are speaking to.
